Finally seeing it.

About Jamar

I'm Jamar. Born and raised in Georgia, and for most of my life I treated it like a place you leave to go somewhere interesting. The mountains were a few hours away. The waterfalls were something other people posted about. I was the guy who said, "there's nothing to do around here" and believed it.

A few years ago, I finally drove north on a Saturday with no plan, and I came home a little embarrassed. Tallulah Gorge was right there. Amicalola Falls was right there. Towns like Clayton and Lavonia had been doing their thing the whole time while I scrolled past them.

So, I started going. Every weekend I could. Then I started filming it, mostly so my friends would stop asking "where is that?" Then strangers started asking too. That's how Jamar Explores Georgia happened.

What you'll find here

Everything on this site comes from a trip I actually took. That means:

  • Real timing, not "about an hour." If a trail took me 90 minutes with photo stops, I'll say 90 minutes.

  • Parking, fees, and the stuff that ruins a day when nobody warns you. State Park parking is $10 now. You'll hear it from me first.

  • Hour-by-hour small town guides so you can show up and go, not stand in a parking lot deciding.

  • Honest calls. If a waterfall isn't worth the hike, I'll tell you.
